So…what is the Monday Poll? Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of five more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007). OK, peeps…deep makeup thoughts right now, because if I don’t distract myself this morning, I’m going to sit here thinking about the three hairline cracks I just found on my iPhone screen, in which case I risk becoming stuck with a permanent crabby Filipino grandma frown for the rest of my life. *SIGH!* In 10 years that $169 screen repair fee (OY VEY) won’t matter, Karen. 🙁 It won’t matter. Just keep telling yourself that… So, concealer. Mine has been giving me major trubs lately, and I’m starting to...

A fascinating overlap of apparently far fields, Mathematics and Biology, sometimes through Physics (see e.g. mathematical biophysics), sometimes directly through pure mathematics (as it happens in statistics, automata theory or algebraic biology, for example). I suggest this informative wiki entry as a good introduction: Mathematical and theoretical biology. All the info about the activities in the links included below:The year of Mathematical Biology 2018 is a joint venture of the European Mathematical Society (EMS) and the European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical Biology (ESMTB). The main objectives are to celebrate the huge increase and importance of applications of mathematics to...
